MY STORY
Hi, I’m Bex
I wholeheartedly believe that every woman deserves a woman to mother her, whilst she is finding her feet to becoming a mother.
I support women of all backgrounds to make informed decisions on their journey to motherhood. With a natural curiosity for all things all things nutrition, cooking and women’s wellness, I share the wisdom I’ve gained from years my years of experience into a digestible manner for my clients, combining the latest research with knowledge from ancient traditions.

I wanted to create a space to support any mother and any woman anywhere in the world, at any time, with whatever her question might be.
After years of experience as a trained doula, holistic midwife’s assistant and maternity nurse, I’ve decided to transform my career from guiding women individiually on motherhood, natural remedies and nutrition to creating a community and building a village in this sacred virtual space.
By Bex was born from my journey of discovering that there is no “one right way”, no “PERFECT”. I wanted to create a space to support any mother and any woman anywhere in the world, at any time, with whatever her question might be.
At By Bex, I share tips of the trade, secret potions and recipes that I have found and created on my personal wellness journey. I summarise books (please read the ones that spark your interest as soon as you have some sleep and time). I share “hacks” that make my life easier, the herbs that support my life and have helped my clients, readings and thoughts on our bodies at each stage of life and most importantly, I hold a non-judgmental space with a community and I share what I have learnt and experienced working with new mothers over the past 15 + years.
I look forward to sharing this
journey with you.

I nourish and care for
mothers on their magical and
turbulent journey to motherhood.
MY STORY
More about Bex
In my early 20’s, I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts and according to the typical medical protocol I was put on the pill – which was a disaster scenario. My weight shot up and my mood dropped after coming off the pill I researched all the possible alternative and holistic options I could find, thus starting my journey to finding balance again. With the help of an amazing acupuncturist & finding lifestyle balance, I managed to dissolve my cysts. It all “seemed” relatively easy and simple… until later.
After a successful career in the luxury design industry, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was not making a difference in this world, with a strong desire to work with women, I found a course in a relatively new field of women’s health at the time called Doula (women supporting women).
After training and qualifying as a doula I had the great honour of supporting women in birthing centres and public hospitals in South Africa. I felt so inspired and fulfilled by this work, and so the desire to learn more led me on a journey to America and Europe to study Midwifery & Herbology.
Becoming a doula showed me how little I knew about my body, hormones, birth and my menstrual cycle… in general this wild and wonderful feminine body of mine. I turned to books and blogs, delving into learning as much as I could about the incredible female body, hormones and feminine energy.
Not only do I listen to my client’s worries and fears without judgment, I encourage, empower and nourish. I love nothing more than caring for mothers on their magical and turbulent journey to motherhood.

MY STORY
Fast forward a decade, a major move to Europe, plus a complete career change into midwifery and maternity nursing (aka no sleep).
I felt fulfilled my career that was just begining to take off yet I found myself running on overdrive—loads of work, little sleep, continued study, moving countries a few times and a social life to be jealous of.
I remember the day so clearly lying on the beach I noticed a bump on the right side of my abdomen, I tried to ignore it and pass it off as nothing but, It was confirmed that I had large ovarian cysts, Endometriosis and cystic breasts. 3 months down the line I looked pregnant the cysts had increased in size to 15 cm each and I was in continuous pain, walking was a challenge and the fatigue was real. Realising that despite my best efforts I needed surgery. I had negated the vital importance of sleep for healing and hormonal balance.
Soon after recovery, I slowly began to put on weight, little by little each month. I was exhausted, no enthusiasm, and just didn’t feel like myself. I was 20 kilos over my normal weight! And the diets….believe me, I tried them all!
Fortunately I had been introduced to a naturopath. She was the first person who described my symptoms without me saying one word. It was the first time I didn’t feel crazy, lazy or guilty…….
